Embraced by Flowers
Embraced by Flowers is an investigation of femininity through the symbolic architecture of the rose. Across forty paintings created between 2024 and 2025, Leah Sanata transforms a familiar subject into concentrated studies of emotional range. The constraint is deliberate: identical 23×23 cm format, single motif, sustained focus. Within this framework, extraordinary range emerges. Color temperature varies. Atmospheric density shifts. Angles change. Surface textures differ.
Some roses appear nearly weightless, floating in open space. Others carry gravitational pull, their petals dense with presence. Each painting operates according to its own internal logic, refusing to be categorized or compared.
Three works introduce a material departure: roses painted with coffee on canvas. These pieces carry tactile earthiness that contrasts sharply with the clear oil and acrylic works, extending the project's investigation of how medium shapes emotional temperature.
The uniform scale removes hierarchy. No painting dominates; each exists on equal terms. This demands a different kind of attention from viewers — not the scanning glance of a gallery walk, but sustained presence. Stand close. Watch as light shifts across the surface. Notice how color relationships transform. Forty roses, each exploring a distinct emotional state.

The Archive
The Archive is Sanata's primary ongoing body of work — a collection of paintings created outside structured projects, presented independently under the exhibition title Art Free of Prejudice. Unlike defined series, it is not organized around a single motif or unified framework. The diversity is essential: this is where the practice shifts direction and expands its language.
What connects these works is not subject or scale but the same attention to light and color relationships that runs through everything Sanata makes. Works span from intimate 40×40 cm canvases to expansive large-format pieces, from atmospheric veils to bold color blocks — abstract compositions alongside floral studies and clusters of grapes. The Archive shows the range of the artist's formal thinking and documents shifts in her practice over time.
